I suck.
With that out of the way, Happy 2013! We are only 14 days into the new year but so far, it's been pretty great. Last week I got some really great news (which I will share at a later date so stay tuned!) And it's pretty exciting! (I'm going to interject right now that no, I'm not pregnant and it has nothing to do with me and children, I promise. However, my sister also shared some exciting news and it DOES have something to do with children! But that's not what I'm talking about. :) ) I'm really hoping that 2013 is going to be a good year! So far so good. :)
It's been quite awhile since I last posted. Not to say nothing interesting has happened, I just haven't had a computer to blog with. Where do I begin??
I'll start with the recent changes to our blog. I can no longer say it is Lucas, Kylie and Me because we have brought a new, furry little pain in the butt home. (No, it's not a kid although us Italians are a hairy bunch...) We adopted a cat. I really can't tell you why. Looking back we rationalized that Kylie needed a companion. Someone to play with and entertain her when we couldn't. We talked about a second dog but as it is, my parents have made it abundantly clear that our one dog is an inconvenience when we have to bring her... There is no way we could bring two. Plus the boarding will be more expensive and they'll require twice the maintenance. So we discussed it and a cat just seemed like the best option.
Fast forward 3 months and I'll tell you why we really got the cat. (And why we are so smart) We were taking Kylie to more Bad Dog School and PetSmart has cats you can adopt from the Jefferson Humane Society that they keep in their store. Well every time we had to walk the dog around the store we'd pass the cages and talk about how cute, and fuzzy, and warm, and soft, and cuddly, and mewmewmewmewkittiesaresocuteIwantone blahblahblah. We rationalized that this would be the best decision of our lives! This would be our Christmas present to one another! Yea! A kitty! So we adopted Lisl. A 5 month gray and orange cat with green eyes. And we just whove our wittle kitty-witty-head, right?
God I hate this cat.
Now I have two idiots running circles around the house. One of them nimble and spry. The other a clumsy, 40lb-train wreck, that crashes into EVERYTHING she's NOT looking at because she's looking at the cat. The complete lack of traction on the floor does not help.
The cat cries all night to be let into the bedroom where we are sleeping and if you let her in, she spends the rest of the night walking on your face.
Anytime you stop moving, she has to try to climb your leg. Or run at you and bounce off your whatever she hits. At the moment, she is laying on my glass picture frames I have stacked in the corner to be hung. Staring at me.
And don't worry. They do get along. They are working together. A couple weeks ago the dog ate a candle. It was a round candle that to a dog, probably looked like a ball. It was on my kitchen table where the cat knocked it to the floor. The dog thought that was great fun for a ball to fall out of the sky and went to town. By the time Luke realized what happened, (I was not at home) half of this "ball" had been consumed.
She also ruined my Christmas tree by bending all the branches in the lower half to face the floor where she would lay under and hide out in her new little fort. If you fixed it, she would bend them back. So we gave up. Luke had to finally take it down all together because she had climbed it so high she almost sent it and her over the banister and down to the main floor. (The tree was up in our loft.)
Yeah. Get a cat. Best idea ever.
But much like the dog, she is ours. And she does grow on you - like a fine mold. She loves to snuggle and will come lay with you 9 times out of 10 anytime you sit on the couch. (Granted it's usually on your chest, neck or right in front of your face, but it's still sweet. Sometimes.) So we'll keep her. Plus, we adopted her so we made a commitment to her. And I have to admit, she makes the dog look like an idiotic angel...
That update took longer than I anticipated.I'll try to make the rest of this brief...
Or I'll end here. There is so much going on that to type it all here would be terribly boring for you to read and me to type. And I am on day 5 of the stomach flu so I'd really like to lay down.
Hopefully I will not wait another 3 months to post again but we'll see. I make no promises.
Oh. And to explain what I started with, the back light on my computer blew out. The same night we brought the cat home, actually. And as of a couple days ago, Luke's computer stopped working as well. So at the moment, I have his monitor hooked up to my laptop. You do what you gotta do, right? Which is going to make my online class really interesting, huh?
In any case, that's my post. Thanks for reading! I'm gonna lay down now. And I'll see if I have pictures of the cat to post.

This was one of our winter pictures. I love this picture!

Family portrait. You can't tell, but I had to wrestle the dog into this position and clearly, the cat hates us.
I was in the shower and Luke was in the living room. We both walked into this.
Yes. She is literally sleeping like this. I wasn't kidding when I said she's annoying.
Don't think this is a sweet moment. The dog wants so badly for us to know she's there all the time that she will squish, sit on, land on, and maul the cat just to make sure she is up front.
Lisl. And again, I do realize that this is a desperate cry that we need children so we can stop using our fur babies as real babies. It's sad.
